For a glamorous camping experience, The Resort at Paws Up in Greenough offers the best. Located in the unspoiled wilderness of Montana, this multi-award winning camp allows guests to experience the rustic charm of living in the outdoors with all the luxury of a five-star hotel.
All in all, there are only 28 vacation homes and 24 camping tents in Paws Up. There are five types of luxury homes: the Meadow Homes, Big Timber Homes, Wilderness Estates, Morris Ranch House, and Blackfoot River Lodge. Each has its own unique stamp and style, and they can accommodate four to eight people each. Resorts Website. Photos provided by the resort.
The styles of these luxury houses are western and rustic, but the facilities are anything but. All are equipped with the conveniences of home, including huge hot tubs and fireplaces, laundry areas and fully-equipped kitchens. There is a flat screen TV too, as well as wireless Internet connection to keep guests connected to the outside world.
However, Paws Up is best known for “glamping” or glamorous camping during the hotter seasons. Its 24 luxurious tents give a new meaning to the word “camping.” There are four luxury camps: River Camp, Creekside Camp, Pinnacle Camp, and the new adult-only Moonlight Camp which was formerly known as Tent City.
River Camp has six safari-like tents located along the banks of the Blackfoot River which had been the inspiration for the book and movie called A River Runs Through It. Each has a king-sized featherbed, wooden flooring, electricity, spacious deck, daily housekeeping and camping butler services, and a cook who serves gourmet meals. The dining pavilion for the River Camp offers a view of the majestic Blackfoot River.
Creekside is located on the banks of Elk Creek, and its six tents has an ensuite bath each, stone fireplace, a dining pavilion that also serves as a lounge area, a fire pit for the nightly bonfires, and all the amenities of the other accommodations.
Moonlight Camp used to be called Tent City, but it has been reinvented to become the most romantic, all-adult luxury tents in Paws Up. Perfect for honeymooners and lovers, the exclusive Camp has six tents featuring the amenities of the other accommodations plus a Spa Tent for massages and self-care activities.
Pinnacle, the newest and the most luxurious in Paws Up will open in June 2011. It is on a bluff overlooking the Blackfoot River and Elk Creek, and it will have six more tent suites with bathrooms and other resort amenities.
With a 37,000-acre property, Paws Up is the ultimate outdoor playground where guests never run out of things to do. A must is fly-fishing—a religion and not a sport in the words of A River Runs Through It author Norman MacLean—but one can also go horseback riding, biking, driving in an ATV, river rafting, kayaking, and water skiing, among other adventure and water sport activities.
