Key West Florida

Florida's most Beautiful & Unique Key Islands

Updated - April 2001

Although Key West has gotten a bit overrun by tourist and tourist traps, there is still a rich history and charm to the area. The somewhat cynical locals are called "Conch's" (pronounced "Conk") and the island is called the Capital of the Conch Republic - with a unique history involving an attempt in February of 1982 to secede from the U.S. and a declaration of war.
