Florida's most Beautiful & Unique Key Islands
Although Key West has gotten a bit overrun by tourist and tourist traps,
there is still a rich history and charm to the area. The somewhat cynical
locals are called "Conch's" (pronounced "Conk") and the island is called the
Capital of the Conch Republic - with a unique history involving an attempt in
February of 1982 to secede from the U.S. and a declaration of war.
Organized tours departing every 30 minutes are available through Old Town Trolley Tours (305) 296-6688 or The Conch Train Tour (305) 294-5161.
The Mosquito Coast Island Outfitters and Kayak Guides (305) 294-7178 offers 4 to 5 hour natural history tours to nearby Keys. Lloyd's Key West Nature Bike Tour (305) 294-1882 also runs several tours.
