New Fairmont in Boston

Fairmont PR has just sent me these artist renderings of the new Fairmont Battery Wharf Boston that is scheduled to open in December 2008.
The new contemporary hotel is located on Boston’s waterfront, adjacent to the city’s historic North End. With the Fairmont Copley Plaza this makes the two hotels in Boston now managed by Fairmont.
“I’m delighted to learn that the Fairmont brand will have an extended presence in our city with the operation of a new hotel at Battery Wharf,” Mayor Thomas M. Menino said.
Fairmont states that “Guestrooms will be spacious with a large work area, marble baths and all of the technology features consistent with five-diamond standards. The décor will be residential in style and inspired by the property’s harbor side location.”
The new hotel will offer 6,000 square feet of meeting space, will feature a restaurant designed with guidance from three-star Michelin Chef Guy Martin, and a lounge with harbor views. A water taxi service to Boston Logan International Airport will also be available.

Starwood Opens First “element” Hotel

Lexington MA is the home of Starwood’s first Element Hotel, the “Element Lexington”. This 123-room Boston suburb property is Starwood’s first extended-stay Element branded hotel. It is also part of their green building initiative targeting eco-chic guests.
This is the first of many eco friendly Element properties, hotels that meet the US Green Building Council’s LEED certification. The building was constructed with materials that have as little environmental impact as possible. Giving you the opportunity to continue your environmentally aware lifestyle even while your on the road. Hybrid car drivers will get preferred parking. Guests are pampered in Westin’s Heavenly bed, spa-like bathrooms with over sized showers, state-of-the-art fitness center, internet connections, and a complimentary fresh and health breakfast. This extended stay hotel also offers it’s guests free bikes.
Additional ELEMENT hotels will soon be opening in Summerlin (Las Vegas, NV), Houston Vintage Park (Houston, TX), and in Arundel Mills (Baltimore, MD). Additional details can be found at the Element site.
