Well located in Toronto's Entertainment District, The SoHo Metropolitan Hotel is just a short walk from the Convention Center and several great restaurants. So far, so good. After hearing mixed reports it was nice to learn that there are two Metropolitan hotels in Toronto. This one is newer and is the correct pick for someone looking for a comfortable & enjoyable stay.
The SoHo Metro's lobby is a mixture of rich classic woods and modern materials all with a contemporary design. Plenty of staff were always available with information and lots of help. Just off of the lobby is a small lounge and a bright, airy cafe with tall windows facing the streets of Toronto.
Welcome to room 407. The room's entry is brightened by the use of light woods and excellent lighting. A small alcove contains a snack & beverage area adjoined by the open closets. For more reviews of Toronto properties check my 7 Hotels In 7 Days feature.
The contemporary artwork and furniture are warmed by the excellent use of wood and fabric. The hotel provides plenty of space for relaxing while a small but excellent stereo system can fill the room with music. The TV pivots so it is easily visible from anywhere in the room.
The bed was very comfortable with excellent linens. Controls for the room's "Do No Disturb" light and window drapes are located bedside.
The small alcove near the closet contains a Keurig coffee maker and snacks with a mini-bar refrigerator just below. I suggest you bring your own favorite K-cups for coffee. For more on info visit hotel website.
I like the open style closets which the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel provides. It's helpful to see all of your belongings at one glance. There are no doors to open which makes packing easy, especially when it is time to check-out. The suitcase platform built into the closet is perfect for people like me who live out of a suitcase while on the road. Around every corner I found small extras that the Metro provided to make life a little easier. An AC outlet in the room safe allows you to charge devices while they are securely stored.
From the closet you enter the beautiful marble bath. Here again is an extra: you can turn on the heated floor. This is nice! The tub and shower were not huge, but comfortable and well laid out. Towels and bath amenities were plentiful and of high quality.
The SoHo Metropolitan Hotel provides a lovely pool for guests. A well equipped and staffed gym is also available. The hotel also offers 13,000 square feet of space for business meetings and other events.
During my stay the main restaurant in the SoHo was under renovation and re-branding. Lunch in the "Senses Cafe", just off of the lobby was excellent with prompt service. Here is more info on culture and the arts in Toronto.
Don't miss the beautiful glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly located just above the hotel's entrance. In the evening it makes a statement about this wonderful Toronto hotel. Modern, cool, elegant and hip. A stay a the SoHo Metropolitan will help make your Toronto visit an enjoyable one.
